Approving of Fall’s Fun Mini Skirt Sets

We spotted it on the runway last winter, and now the mini skirt-sets trend is finally here and ready to party. With versions out at every price point, in luxe fabrics and bold patterns that bring us back to Cher Horowitz and Dionne in Clueless, we couldn’t be more excited to give the look a go.

The trick to nailing this Fall 2016 trend is to make sure it’s basically the opposite of the skirt suit you associate with boring ’90s office wear. Think: a micro-mini hemline, loud colors and detailing, and jackets that go beyond your typical blazer. From bombers and peacoats to moto jackets, anything is fair game as long as it matches the mini you’re rocking.

Wear these cool sets with menswear-inspired flats or low-key heels and bare legs now and then, when the weather starts to really cool down, with opaque tights and stacked ankle boots. And keep your top simple in order to put the spotlight on the suit; we’re especially feeling plain ‘ol turtlenecks and button-down shirts to amp up the collegiate vibe.
