8 Things to Know About Chanel’s Fashion Show at the Ritz

Karl Lagerfeld took over the Ritz Paris today to stage Chanel’s Métiers d’Art runway show. The show brought together Parisian influences with a decidedly optimistic spirit—hard to argue against the coral flowers in models’ hair or the bitsy crop top worn by Lily-Rose Depp. Here, five things to know about the show while you wait for Sarah Mower’s review.

1. The festivities kicked off on Monday evening with a cocktail party at the Ritz with guests like Pharrell Williams, Lily-Rose Depp, G-Dragon, and Bella Heathcote. Willow Smith performed.

2. The runway show was opened by none other than Cara Delevingne, Lagerfeld’s long-standing muse. Delevingne sported peach flowers in her hair and an ivory tweed suit.

3. Models wound around lunch tables at the Ritz, showing off Lagerfeld’s decidedly Parisian ensembles like knit suits topped off with layers of pearls.

4. The beauty look was topped off with an assortment of colored flowers and a white-rimmed eye.

5.  Considering over-the-knee boots are all the rage with the street style set, it was only a matter of time before the style ended up on the Chanel runway. Today, Lagerfeld sent them out in shades of hot pink and black.

6. Lily-Rose Depp took her first runway turn for Chanel, walking after Delevingne in a golden crop top and midi skirt, with black flowers in her hair.

7. Pharrell Williams took a runway turn as well, wearing what might very well be a Chanel-branded yarmulke.

8. Music maestro Michel Gaubert picked on-theme tunes for the runway show, like “Puttin’ On the Ritz.”
